So I always see people post saying how slayer is a good way to make money, but I have 80 slayer and don't ever make hardly any cash? Am I supposed to always bank and sell everything? I currently use Kuradel so I'm getting high level monsters to kill, but I just can't seem to ever make any money.

Any tips or what you think I'm doing wrong is appreciated. I have made money through tasks since around I made k in noted potato cactus from a single fungal mage task. Pick up herbs and gems when you have space too.

For example, at 95, you can kill the Ascension bosses. At 92, you can kill Airuts off-task for their bones. Or is it that I collect all the bones, ashes, etc. Eg at 85 slayer you unlock abyssal demons and they drop abyssal wand and orb.

You could pick up the ashes from them and use magic notepaper, but I'm just using infernal urns. At 81 slayer you unlock ascension members. The Gem Bag reward from Dungeoneering is very, very useful for this task, as Abby's drop gems quite often. Abyssals, Dark Beasts, Airuts, and most other high level monsters drop quite a bit of rune items that alch for higher than their GE price. I generally try to train Slayer as quickly as possible I bonecrush all bones and use infernal urns for all ashes , and this means that I miss out on a lot of potential profit.

However, if you do pick up ashes, dragon bones, airut bones, etc. I get m from an Airut task, and that's without the bones, which would net you much more money if you pick them up. Many people think I am crazy for not selling the valuable bones on Slayer tasks, but I am willing to give up that money for infinite prayer and faster kills.

The truth behind slayer is ugly. In reality, it's not very good money, it's not very good combat XP, and all it's really good at is slayer XP. Some people like to brag about how much they can make from the skill in a certain about of XP or levels, but those are misleading in one of two ways. They bosses for the XP, think QBD, kril, Armadyl. They picked up all the meaningless drops.

Think dragon bones, hides, herbs and every single drop over 1k in value. Some people even pick up things worth less than 2k and use magic notes on them worth over 2. Nobody ever includes the lost cost of these in PCs though.

This method of slayer training is, once again, very slow. It's not worth your time. If you enjoy it, then sure go for it. But in the grand scheme of things it's not efficient. Automatons, QBD and KK are great because some people would do those things without tasks. Also picking up unique drops like Abby wands, whips, staffs of light is worth it. Don't get crazy though, you should never have to bank on a task.

All in all, so whatever you find fun, but slayer generally isn't efficient. A couple of years ago it used to be great money, but it seems to have dropped significantly since then. Items dropped by tasks have in general dropped significantly, and better methods of money making have become more plentiful. Slayer really is decent money at high levels. I'm sure I missed some tasks.

I am just saying that some, most, people over hype slayer. And in most scenarios training slayer as fast as possible and then using time saved to make money is better than slower slayer XP rates. I agree that airuts, celestials and ganos should all be added to the list of great tasks, that's because of their great XP rates though. Down to a T. He even left out the magic notepapers on the price check at the end, JUST like I said. The good thing about slayer is that even though, like you say, it's not decent money, it still gives nearly ideal xp in combat stats if you train it efficiently and the money stacks up as you train it.

I am surprised you mention that it's not that good combat xp. Why do you say that? Isn't slayer xp still related to combat xp though? Yes, combat XP can be a positive externality from good slayer XP tasks ganos, celestials. But you shouldn't decide tasks based on the combat XP that you get, you should decide them based on the slayer XP they give. I understand you now. I was under the impression that, like how it was previously, 1 slayer xp would always net a certain number previously 4 combat xp.

Thanks for the tips, I think once I get this next Slayer level and can fight ascension monsters I can make money from them. I never said you didn't gain any XP from it or gain any money.
